Second Visit - 2008-10 - VSO Placement With PNG Assembly of Disabled People"PNG Assembly of Disabled People was the organisation for people living with disability. It had been used by whoever could become Chair as a cash point at the corrupt Government Dept. responsible for disability. In a roller coaster ride we were successful in opening the organisation for trustworthy and responsible people to run it. There was a 60 strong planning workshop for people from all regions, a strong plan for the future and the achievement of a Disability Act led by a strong M.P. in Parliament. PNGADP is still running strongly in the present." Third Visit - 2015 VSO Placement Across the Highlands and Morobe 2015"A previous volunteer had been working with HIV self-help groups but left early and my role was to continue his work. Whist HIV/AIDS was not at the epidemic levels of Africa; it was a worry that infection rates were rising. An exceptional Catholic Nun in Mendi, my home, had kick started the response and my role was to support and build the capabilities of self-groups in six Regions, which involved lots of travel, training and problem solving."
